The following books are available at Amazon.com. They are terrific reads in there own right.
- The Coolest School in America by Ron Newel – A history and description of The Minnesota New Country School, one of the two primary models used to form the WLCS methodology.
- Edutopia the George Lucas Foundation – A look at some of the more interesting applications of technology in k-12 education.
- One Kid at a Time by Eliot Levine – This is an outsider’s look at the MET School, which was the first of the Big Picture School’s. An easy read, this book will give you a fairly in-depth look at the way the Big Picture model works.
- The Big Picture by Dennis Littky – Dennis Littky is one of the founders of the MET School. This book contains his account of the program he created with Elliiott Washor and discusses some of the thinking behind the decisions made in the conceptualization of this school.
- Schools That Learn, edited by Peter Senge – This is a marvelous compilation that can best be described as a one stop shopping guide to authentic education. This book uses over 600 pages to offer insights, resources, methods, opinion and arguments on almost every aspect of education by a wealth of writers.
